Dating back thousands of years, ceramic tiles are considered to be one of the first tiles used by mankind. Ceramic tiles are manufactured by firing clay and other materials to create a product that is hard, durable and heat resistant. Porcelain tiles use the same process, with the exception of using only pure white clay. Ceramic and porcelain tiles attempt to emulate the look and feel of natural stone products at a less expensive price. They additionally give versatility of several different sizes, colors and decorations.
